062107 Simul Results of Carrel Chess Club versus Expert Micky Maloy
If you're ever bored and want to see a good game against a GM without any blunders and I still lose, here

There are two parts: Part 1 is the Chessmaster computer analysis and part 2 is my plain English remarks
and some comments from GM Antonio on some things I could have done different.

Here's my game against Micky Maloy:

36.Rxd7 Kxd7 37.f4 Ke6 38.b5 axb5 39.cxb5 Kd6 (I don’t know what I was thinking here other than I had to
get my king into the action. This move gave White a considerable advantage.) 40.a6 bxa6 41.bxa6 Kc7 42.

Ne6 47.Kxh4 Nf4 48.Bf1 c5 49.Kg4 Ng6 (I heard Rodney Dison kibitzing in the background that somebody
should stick a fork in me. Speaking of forks, I saw this fork trick coming up several moves ago.) 50.h4 c4
(This was my last chance to get back into the game. I think that White should have sacrificed his bishop
here and rammed his two passed pawns down my throat. He decided to try and hold onto the bishop
instead.) 51.h5 Ne5+ 52.Kf5 c3 53.h6 c2 54.h7 Nf7 55.Kf6 c1=Q 56.Kxf7 Qxf1+ 57.Kg8 1/2-1/2
I offered the draw and Maloy accepted, I didn’t see the win, but I had a won position. He probably saw that I
had a won position and happily stole half the game. LOL
57…Qxg2+ WINS IN ALL LINES! If 58 Kh8 then Leads to 58...Kd6 59.a7 Ke6 60.a8=Q Qxa8+ 61.Kg7
Qa1+ 62.Kg8 Qg1+ 63.Kh8 Qd4+ 64.Kg8 Qd8+ 65.Kg7 Qf6+ 66.Kg8 Qf7+ 67.Kh8 Qf8#. Better is 58 Kf8.
But after I take with 57…Qxg2+, 58 Kf8 still loses. Below is the scenario. I couldn’t see the Queen going to
h8 and blocking out White’s King and bringing my King over to take the pawn and win.
Analysis: I move my queen to f3, which checks White's king. White responds by moving the king to g7,
which moves it out of check. I move my queen to g4, which checks White's king. White counters by moving
the king to h6, which moves it out of check. I move my queen to d4. White responds by moving the king to
g6. I move my king to b8. White responds with the pawn to a7, which checks your king and adds a promote
threat at a7. I move my king to a8, which moves it out of check, blocks White's pawn at a7, and removes
the promote threat at a7. White replies by moving king to f7. I move my queen to h8, which attacks White's
pawn at h7, blocks White's pawn at h7, and removes the promote threat at h7. White replies by moving
king to g6, which removes the threat on White's pawn at h7. I move my queen to f8, which moves it out of
the corner. White responds by moving king to g5. I move my queen to g7, which forks White's pawn at h7
and White's king. White replies by moving king to f4, which moves it out of check. My queen takes the pawn
at h7, which removes the promote threat at h7. White replies by moving king to e3. My king takes the pawn.
As a result of this line of play, I win two pawns AND I would be able to eventually force a mate with this
material.
